Brilliant Twitter account mercilessly skewers brands who try to sound 'down with the kids'

Brands Saying Bae is your new favourite Twitter account.

WE DON’T KNOW what’s worse: brands being utterly banal on Twitter or brands attempting to be down with the kids.

Just kidding, the latter is far worse.

Now, a new Twitter account by the name of @BrandsSayingBae is casting a microscope over brands and their embarrassing attempts to connect with younger customers. Namely, by using the word “bae” a lot.

A little background: “bae” is a term of endearment that has gained popularity over the last year and is essentially short for “baby”.

As the term has become more and more ubiquitous, many brands have decided to incorporate it into their social media strategy.

The results are deeply mortifying.

Since it was set up on Saturday, the account has amassed over 8,200 followers and counting. It has also shone a light on the depressing lengths some brands will go to just to seem relateable or “down with the kids”.

At least Supermacs hasn’t pulled anything similar.
